In Pitt's prototyping foundations class, I worked with a team of students to design and prototype a mechanized life jacket that could be inflated without intervention when submerged. We wanted to create a discreet, comfortable wearable for people with special needs that accurately detects submersion in water, inflates and supports the user, and alarms caregivers for help, reducing the likelihood of drowning.
